The project goal is to conduct the soil investigation on heavy metal-contaminated farmlands near the Xin and Xiao-Xin Waterway in Changhua County and from the Changhua Environmental Protection Bureau designate. Therefore, establishment of contaminated concentration distribution data of each contaminated farmlands were completed through soil survey. Then, main remediation technology is “Soil dilution method”, which can be implemented with soil excavation and refill to for improving contaminated farmlands in the plan. Finally, landowners can restore the agricultural usage after cancellation of the regulatory listing of the farmlands control site. On the other hand, remediation techniques of some contaminated farmlands use a large amount of soil excavation which not be included in this project, however the appropriate excavation scale and quantities of contaminated soils were estimated for reference. According to contract, the results of this project are described as below. 1. Soil supplementary survey: It has accomplished 37.17 ha contaminated farmlands. 2. Cadastral survey: It has accomplished 0 sections of farmlands. 3. Contaminated farmlands remediation area: It has accomplished 22.21 ha farmlands which consists of 21.09 ha through “Soil dilution method” and 1.12 ha through “Soil excavation method with clean soil backfilled”. 4. Contaminated soils and clean soils analysis: It has accomplished 4 sections of farmlands including TCLP analysis of contaminated soils and heavy metal analysis of clean soils. 5. Works for Soil excavation and backfilled: It has accomplished 482.95 tons soils including the treatment of contaminated soils, purchase of clean soils to refill, transportation of soils ,and so on. 6. Self-verification after remediation: It has accomplished 22.21 ha farmlands soil sampling and analysis. 7. Landowners and farmers seminar: It has accomplished 3 sections of seminar.
